Cookiehub 2.7

CookieHub 2.7 is now available!

We're always adapting to changes in privacy regulations. In the past few months, we've been hard at work enhancing CookieHub to meet new requirements. This ensures that CookieHub stays up-to-date with industry developments and maintains the highest standards.

Starting January 16th, 2024, Google Ad platforms will implement new rules for displaying ads in the EEA and UK. Publishers must use a Consent Management Platform (CMP) certified by Google and integrated with IAB's Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF). Failure to comply will result in Google Ad platforms displaying limited non-personalized ads as a fallback.

CookieHub is proud to be a Google certified Consent Management Platform (CMP), showcasing our commitment to top-tier privacy and regulatory compliance. This certification ensures seamless integration with Google Ad platforms, empowering publishers to confidently manage user consent in accordance with industry-leading standards.

Additionally, Google has introduced consent mode v2 to fulfill the requirements of the new Digital Markets Act (DMA) (opens in a new tab). To continue using Google advertising products (e.g., remarketing) in the EEA, the new consent mode v2 must be implemented, and users must adhere to Google's EU user consent policy (opens in a new tab). If consent mode v2 isn't implemented by March 2024, you won't be able to use Google advertising products for users in the EEA, including Google Ads, Floodlight, and Display campaigns, which will significantly impact the measurements and performance of campaigns.

Timeline

  • January 16th 2024: Publishers and developers using Google AdSense, Ad Manager, or AdMob will be required to use a Consent Management Platform (CMP) that has been certified by Google and has integrated with the IAB's Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF) when serving ads to users in the European Economic Area or the UK.

  • March 6th 2024: Consent mode v2 must be implemented to engage in personalized advertising, such as remarketing.

What is consent mode v2?

Consent mode facilitates the communication of your users' cookie or app identifier consent status to Google, enabling tags to adjust their behavior and respect users' choices.

This feature collaborates with Consent Management Platforms (CMPs) like CookieHub to obtain visitor consent. Consent mode seamlessly integrates with your cookie banner or widget, dynamically adjusting the behavior of Analytics, Ads, and third-party tags responsible for creating or reading cookies based on your users' consent choices.

Consent mode v2 provides granular user consent and introduces two additional parameters. One parameter allows users to consent to the transmission of their data to Google for advertising purposes, while the other pertains to consent for personalized advertising.

What is IAB Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF) 2.2?

The Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF) was conceived to facilitate compliance with the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and ePrivacy Directive (ePD) for all stakeholders involved in digital advertising and targeted content delivery. It addresses the processing, access, and storage of personal information on users' devices.

TCF 2.2 stands as the most recent version of the framework, encompassing refinements and updates aimed at addressing evolving privacy concerns and regulatory developments.

What's new in CookieHub 2.7?

  • IAB TCF 2.1 has been deprecated.
  • IAB TCF 2.2 is now available, featuring Google's Additional consent mode.
  • Consent mode v2 has been implemented with support for the new ad_user_data and ad_personalization properties.
  • The Google Tag Manager template has been updated to accommodate the new consent mode v2 properties.
  • The default description text for the marketing category has been updated to align with the requirements of Google's EU user consent policy.

Other minor updates and enhancements are listed in the change log.
