Preconfigured settings

When you create a new domain in the CookieHub dashboard, you are prompted to select from one of three preconfigured templates. These templates apply a legally sound and functional setup out of the box, helping you start in compliance with key privacy regulations.

Each template configures regional rules, banner behavior, and consent mechanisms based on common use cases. All templates can be customized after creation.

Available templates

1. Default (explicit consent)

This template applies a strict opt-in model for all users, meeting the requirements of privacy laws that require prior consent for non-essential cookies.

Used for compliance with:
GDPR (EU), CNIL (France), LGPD (Brazil), PDPA (Singapore), APPI (Japan), and similar.

Behavior:

• Consent dialog is shown to all users.
• Users must explicitly opt in before non-essential services are activated.
• Standard overlay banner layout.
• CookieHub Choices (internal category-based model) is used.
• Google Consent Mode v2 is enabled by default.
• Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals are respected automatically.
• Shield icon is displayed in the lower-left corner, allowing users to reopen the consent dialog.

2. Geo-targeted with CCPA/CPRA opt-out

This template applies geo-targeted consent behavior:

• Opt-in (explicit consent) for regions where it is legally required
• Opt-out or implied consent elsewhere

Used for compliance with:
GDPR (EU), LGPD (Brazil), CNIL, and US privacy laws such as CPRA, CPA, CTDPA.

Behavior:

• Consent dialog is shown to all users.
• In the United States:
  • A “Do not sell or share my personal information” link is shown instead of a deny-all button.
  • A compact bottom bar layout is used instead of the full overlay dialog.
  • The “Allow all” button is shown next to the link.
• In all other regions:
  • Explicit opt-in is required.
  • A deny all button is available.
  • The standard overlay banner layout is shown.
• IAB GPP is used for users in the United States (includes US Privacy string).
• CookieHub Choices is used elsewhere.
• Google Consent Mode v2 is enabled by default.
• Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals are always respected.
• Shield icon is shown in the lower-left corner to reopen the consent dialog.

3. IAB TCF 2.2

This template enables full support for the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF) 2.2, which is required to comply with the Google EU user consent policy when serving personalized ads.

Used for compliance with:
Google Ads, Meta Ads, and IAB TCF-compliant ad platforms in the EU/EEA.

Behavior:

• IAB TCF 2.2 is used in all regions.
• Users are shown a large overlay dialog with IAB-required disclosures.
• Consent is collected per purpose, feature, and vendor, according to the TCF specification.
• A TCF consent string is generated and shared with IAB-compliant vendors.
• The preference center dialog includes the required Purposes, Legitimate Interests, and Vendors tabs.
• Google Consent Mode v2 is enabled by default.
• Google Additional Consent Mode is supported for Google’s ad tech partners.
• Global Privacy Control (GPC) is respected where applicable.
• Shield icon is displayed for reopening the preference center.
